Since when? My understanding and what we were told while gathering bodies was that the only goal was to kill Hussein and Bin Laden. Those were the only goals. The US stayed and we stayed trying to clean shit up and repair shit which wasnt a “goal” just the US trying to be civil after being uncivil.

I’m not military. However I was military contracted for clean up during these things and every single active military I talked to at that time said the goals were simple as that. The war mongering weapons makers and bleeding hearts combined to extend the presence with absolutely ZERO purpose.
