"got trump officials locked up on phony excuses like *checks notes* CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS. So are you for the law or no? Make up your mind.
Congress demands that a Trump official testify to congress for the purpose of revealing the president's deliberative process
An explicit violation of the separation of powers.
That official refuses, and congress votes to hold him in contempt, has him arrested and imprisoned.
It is just a bill of attainder by another name, and blatantly unconstitutional. It is the same degree of abuse of power and arbitrary persecution as we saw in europe before the founding of our democracy. Congress invented a crime to charge someone, from no underlying facts or actions. We rebelled against England to put an end to this kind of nonsense and Biden brought it right back.
1969, James Groppi led a protest march of Welfare Mothers in Madison, with 1000 mothers marching to the Wisconsin state assembly chamber for a sitdown strike. The State Assembly passed a bill of attainder against him too, ordered him to prison for six months without a trial. Appealed and reversed by the supreme court because we don't allow bills of fucking attainder.
