Homs is in big trouble. If it falls, then all roads lead to Damascus. Is the 60 year assad line avout to fall in the literally 2 weeks meme?

Israel doesn't want it. They are cooperating with Assad (Israel is taking over border security duty, so Assad's troops can be withdrawn from there and join the action). The real deranged one is the US. They are bombing any help on the way

Resistance seems to be non existent. If i had to guess Assad and his family is already in a safe haven like Russia or UAE as well as the who's who of the Syrian government. This puts further pressure on the leftover power structure. If the brass fled for safety, there's no incentive to be the leftover henchman giving the orders, fully knowing your head is on the chopping block if anything. So this creates a domino effect with the whole power structure that maybe could of held the military together crumbling as everyone is running for the hills. That's why you see so many leftover tanks and other hardware in Hama and other places.

IMO this is a net bad for most of the people of Syria. Ask the average person in Libya what was preferred. Living stably under a dictator or anarchy and militia rule but 'freedom' under Islamist factions. Nothing to celebrate here as these Islamists are probably killing plenty of who they label as the enemy or collaborators. There's millions of Alawites who now probably fear for their lives/retributions, other minorities like Kurds and Christians are also running from their homes towards Damascus or Kurd held territory in east.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens after the dust settles. US/Israel/Turks should have no interest in letting these dogs ethnically cleanse the Assad remnants or the Alawites and other loyalists. The optics will be very bad. We might see a balkanization of Syria happen. None of these factions are strong enough by themself to hold the country together.

Since you are the official spokesman for the state of Israel, im curious my friend, do you agree with the below article? Is a weakened assad regime more beneficial towards israeli interests, or would you rather have hezbollah receive no additional replenishment of arms, but at the expense of having a sunni- jihadist controlled government?

The toppling of Assad's regime in Syria may be bad news for Israel - analysis
A weakened Syrian regime under Assad, therefore, is in Israel’s interest. But here’s the rub: Israel would like to see Assad weakened, but not overmuch, and not toppled.

The IDF’s intervention near the Druze village of Hader reflects its commitment to ensuring the security of the Golan Heights and protecting local communities, including Druze populations, from escalating threats. While the immediate focus was on repelling rebel attacks on the UN post, the IDF’s actions align with its longstanding policy of safeguarding the region and its people, including Druze citizens in both Israel and Syrian border areas.

You wont hear it on the news

Assad & Family allegedly fled to Abu Dhabi.

In a related development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov altered his rhetoric towards the Syrian opposition for the first time since 2016, according to a social media post by political commentator Farhan Malik. Speaking in Doha, Lavrov said that moderate opposition fighters needed to be distinguished from terrorists. In a further sign of shifting stances, Iran has also stopped referring to opponents of the Syrian government as “terrorists". Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi referred to the oponants as "legal occupants" in an interview in Doha.

Russia and Iran must have struck a deal about Syria; otherwise, their behavior in Syria defies explanation.

Whatever the agreement was, it clearly served their own interests, making it seem worthwhile to them.

Nah, I think this is more an acknowledgement by Russia and Iran that they don't have the resources or the will to hold Syria atm and will therefore drop it.

Translation: could you please start fighting amongst each other already, instead of overrunning our ally?

Syrian rebels take control of key city of Homs as they edge closer to Damascus
Syria’s rebel alliance is moving to encircle Damascus, saying its fighters are “at the gates” of the capital, after the anti-regime forces swept across the country in a lightning offensive.

If the new and inclusive moderate beheaders take Damascus, theres a very real chance that the Russians will lose their position in the northwest. Theres a whole lota refugees coming to Europe soon; buckle up!
