A quick Google search tells me that the "backwards" eyes enhance colour vision, so that's also by design...
Strength isn't the only factor. The principal factor that sets humans apart is our absolutely unmatched bipedal endurance. Human beings are ultra-efficient, with respect to energy consumption and locomotion. Like INCREDIBLY efficient.
Those other apes are not efficient - they have to spend all day eating to meet their energy expenditure needs, while humans do not. Not to mention humans have unmatched mobility and range of motion which allows us not only to hang but to swim, throw spears with tremendous accuracy and force, and adapt to any situation. We are also incredibly dextrous in the hands, having unparalleled fine motor control which enables the crafting and use of tools. This is basic biology anthropology stuff
