I mean the Athenians would employed diplomatic rather than militaristic methodologies*. Generally the Athenian people didn't start wars. And didn't fight unless they had no other option

Not everyone lol. Quite a few nations want war. Russia is an obvious one. China in the south Chinese sea. Iran. Numerous others.

Carrier strike groups have had zero affect in preventing war zones in the mid east. And according to military experts are losing ground as the premier fighting platform.

I should clarify to say peace on their terms, everyone who wants war wants a peace but on their terms, under their authority, and therein lies the heart of human conflict, theoretically a global peace can only be attained with a global hegemon which can impose and enforce its rule across every corner of the globe and on every square meter of land

Regional peace has been achieved numerous times with the Pax Mongol, Pax Brittanica, Pax Romana and the present Pax Americana where we have no war or conflict within our controlled region
