The wise thing to do is have an open convention and have a honest open fight and have that whatever person rise up. If it's not Harris, and those campaign contributions have be returned, it's actually not the worst thing in the world. Instead of dumping money into an obviously losing POTUS cycle and waste hundreds of millions on advertising that wont make a difference, you redeploy that funding in close house races.
The thing is just that all the money spent on downballot races might be in vain once the top of the ticket is circling down the drain too much, so that their voters are demoralized and unmotivated.

When we made this bet, I insisted on the "if Trump and Biden are the nominees"-clause because I was thinking of one of them dropping dead, or the efforts to get Trump off the ballot, or perhaps DeSantis stealing the nomination from Trump. I really didn't have "Biden becomes the nominee, but then his dementia accelerates to the point where his candidacy becomes untenable and his own party brute forces him to drop out" in mind.
