well what you said was that it was acceptable to be unhealthy so long as it doesn't affect humans...

i think 'healthy' is defined as how hospitable the ecosystem is for humans, everything else is irrelevant to me

Religion got us here

But secularism is why we will continue to live in a wealthy privileged world

IMHO

The US would be a much better place if we shared common spiritual values. You can call it whatever you want but culture stems from religion.

i suppose i cant disagree with that since its pretty vague. yes, for humans we need our cows, those cows require good grass, so humans require good grass. but it leaves an underlying thought that you would be willing to kill off anything
that doesnt serve a purpose for the benefit of humans. but what im getting at, is it all connected, so if we start letting certain parts of nature die off, we will suffer the repercussions of it eventually and therefore not irrelevant.

no other creature on earth pollutes the way we do. that isnt natural in the sense that it wouldnt exist if we didnt either.

I think religion and science worked on the group project together that is named nuclear weapons, so we’re putting the blame squarely on science without acknowledging religious conflicts that got us to that position to begin with

Although there is truly an argument to be made humans are going to keep fighting whether the scape goat is religion or xyz because it’s just our biology to do so

But I agree team science should probably back off on world destroying technology

Nice Own goal team science

I agree with you but religious people won't back down on their "God" neither will the scientist.

The difference being that most people's worship of God doesn't carry a materialistic price. Are people still killing each other over "my god vs your god" of course.

Science though in it's own pursuit of understanding "nature/this reality/god/existence" will destroy on a far greater level then "Organized religion".

This isn't the "Crusades" or a period in time fueled by religious warfare. This is the time of "Science is our God" "Science is our salvation from what we've done". We are basically a few EMP's or Nuclear meltdowns away from total loss of not just human life but the web of life itself.

I don't think people understand the interconnectivity of species. Like Einstein once said, "If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live.”

yeah what's important is what we aim at. Do we ultimately care about HUMANS or the PLANET? for an example, SWAMI does not seem to value humans more than the planet or any other species on it, I do. This is the fundamental difference, what exactly you do between to express that is the details.

no other species plants as many trees as we do, or preserves ecosystems like we do also.

Yeah I was being facetious when I was arguing extremes earlier tbh

I overall believe in moderation and hope we can be citizens of team human, earth, and science simultaneously
