I've lived in the mountains there's a massive difference between climbing on a mountain and climbing to the peak of a mountain. The air pressure is very thin the temperatures are unforgiving and the view is often worse at the peak than well below the peak. That's just in the Rockies which are decently shorter than Everest. Chances are you aren't getting help on a mountain top even in the shorter Rockies. It's extremely dangerous to rescue people from mountains. I don't see much difference between having a picnic and taking selfies. Either way you're only climbing it to be able to say you did. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that unless you start thinking you're entitled to get help if you run into a problem. There are plenty of examples of attempted rescues costing rescuers their lives. If you want to climb mountain peaks you have to accept the fact that you can't depend on getting help. Even if other people happen to be nearby. They aren't trained or supplied to rescue you, they're just climbing it for fun too.
Fact:
You need around 6 people to rescue someone on that path (to Everest and etc.). More than 6 people walked over him in that video alone. Nope, you can rescue people but you need the numbers and the equipment. They had it all but chose to leave him alone.
I also went for the peak of Monte Guglielmo/Gölem:

I don't know how dangerous it is to rescue someone who got stuck on mountain top but I know that a mountain is huge, so it must be very difficult for rescuers to find someone. I guess if people carry their cell phones with them it's probably easier but back in the days without cell phones and GPS, it was probably near impossible to locate the person.
Also, I totally agree that people shouldn't take on such a dangerous endeavor and then expect to be rescued when things go wrong. Mountain rescues sound like they would cost a lot of money. If someone has used this service, I believe that they should pay for it once they are safely brought back. Taxpayers should not have to pay for people's rash, foolish, risk-taking behaviors. Same with how if someone calls the ambulance for non-life threatening conditions. The hospital bills them for it, and I think it's reasonable.
I don't comment about stuff I don't know, you shouldn't either. Very easy to be found out
