Contrast this to the way the likes of Newsom, Whitmer, Pelosi and now Biden have flagrantly flouted the mandates and rules that they themselves imposed on their states/country.
If a political leader issues draconian restrictions on the public and justifies them with sheer necessity, then he or she better follows these rules of their own making.

There's a myriad of reasons to blast Trump over his handling of covid, but hypocrisy is not one of them.

But yeah, there are of course plenty of cases of hypocrisy on the Republican side too. DeSantis like you said, or the Fox News hosts who were agitating against the vaccines for far too long while already being vaccinated themselves and sitting in a workplace environment with mandates.
Or how the GOP governors are outraged by federal attempts at mandating vaccines, citing principles like federalism, state rights or government overreach, all while they are simultaneously trying to bar local authorities from dealing with covid as they see fit.
