Canada is the same for 2035, EV only. Huge landmass spread-out, minimal infrastructure in-between, extreme colds in Canada significantly reduces potential millage, up to 40% in areas like Edmonton and further north. And somehow with all our hydro electricity in Canada, the current change / increase in EV's has put strain on our current grid.
Canada has had minimal infrastructure upgrades since the late 80s in many areas, our grids are old, and our public transit infrastructure is miserable and non existant in many places.
One word: Pipedream
It's not happening by 2035, for that to become reality, they would need to start investments in grid capacity expansion and infrastructure like today, with probably tens of billions flowing into it.
One of my concerns is imagine it's 2035 and all you can buy is EVs but then you don't have grid stability. It completely grinds movement, work, travel, to a halt in event of blackout. That's a huge risk. Imagine you can't go to work, or hospital staff can't get to work or an ambulance can't go pick someone up because it's not charged. So many issues could arise from this.
Personally i think eventually i'll buy a hybrid rather than pure EV. At least i know if something happens i can get the cannister of gasoline i have in my garage and move if something happens.
