Only idiots were disputing this

The important thing is to understand it, in that the 6% figure is actually quite high compared to other infectious processes

For example what percent of patients, without co-morbidities, die from flu annually? Answer is <1%. What percent of America has a co-morbidity? Easily >50%

CDC article I don’t think was politically charged but misinformed clowns on both sides tried to make it so

well we both agree there lol and no the cdc article was just factual but like you said too many people don’t understand data especially in the USA and most definitely in certain parts of Germany

Well, Florida is idiosyncratic. Trump might be bailed out in FL by Cubans coming home to the GOP, but in other states, his reckless handling of the lives of the elderly during the pandemic is hurting him like crazy. It's gonna single-handedly cost him Arizona, Wisconsin, perhaps also Pennsylvania and North Carolina...

bro he's gonna win wisconsin trust me. Id love to be wrong tho

how do you think 'the left' charged it politically?

i mean, on science-denying 'right' it quickly became a popular narrative that only 6% of the 200k were due to corona, trying to validate their conspiracy theories about 'fabricated panic' and 'overreaction to hurt trump's reelection chances' - and to my knowledge 'the left' merely tried to set the record straight that this was not what it said. i don't know of any similarly idiotic narrative (or the alleged attacks on the cdc) from the left, sounds like #alternative facts tbh.

bothsidesism benefits those that are undeniably worse. not a big fan of that tbh...

I def heard some people trying to say it was more than 6%, I don’t know specifically who

And clearly heard people down playing it saying that is a small or meaningless number

both those stances are wrong

fair enough, i wasn't talking about singular cases though, i mean widespread popular narratives amongst either camp, deliberately distorting the findings to further anti-scientific narratives and behaviou - and i don't think even the most dedicated bothsidesist wouldn't be able to identify a clear winner on that if they wanted.
the right in america not only chose to make the pandemic a partisan issue in the first place, they have also decidedly taken the science denial approach. don't think that's a particularly controversial statement.

I don’t watch enough news to know in regards to wide spread popular narratives tbh.

My largest news sources are CNBC and my fb feed which is a mix of both sides. The CNBC article did a very good job with it and mentioned what percent of US has diabetes, HTN, obesity etc Amd was fairly objective.

imagine believing a life long con man over experts and scientists. imagine being that poor at critical thinking. imagine belonging to a cult without even noticing it:
