I really dont think he's doing Trump a favor with this. The elderly feeling unprotected, abandoned and exposed to the virus by Trump and his allies is the main reason he's so far down in the polls. Reduced margins out of white retirees are the only reason why Trump hasnt wrapped up Florida yet...

On the policy/public health side of things, I'm not a fan of governors banning mayors and local officials from doing what's right for their local community. What does DeSantis in Tallahassee know about the covid situation in Miami, Hollywood or Tampa?

I think he's probably going after the segment of the population that goes to restaurants and bars more frequently. It could be potentially problematic with senior voters, but a lot of them have some of their other bases covered by the Trump platform, so I'd say it's one of those calculated risks DeSantis is willing to take.

But Trump has created a huge partisan split on mail vs election day voting. It's the Dems who vote by mail, and his own voters who have to survive until election day...

I dont think DeSantis and Trump have thought his through.

imagine being too stupid to distinguish between "disputing a figure" and "putting something into the proper context because science-deniers on the right don't know how to interpret a study", lol...

Well, Florida is idiosyncratic. Trump might be bailed out in FL by Cubans coming home to the GOP, but in other states, his reckless handling of the lives of the elderly during the pandemic is hurting him like crazy. It's gonna single-handedly cost him Arizona, Wisconsin, perhaps also Pennsylvania and North Carolina...

Yeah, it's a really narrow tightrope for him to walk, from an electoral standpoint. Trump loses those four states you listed, and his path to victory becomes almost non-existent.

Only idiots were disputing this

The important thing is to understand it, in that the 6% figure is actually quite high compared to other infectious processes

For example what percent of patients, without co-morbidities, die from flu annually? Answer is <1%. What percent of America has a co-morbidity? Easily >50%

CDC article I don’t think was politically charged but misinformed clowns on both sides tried to make it so
