tonerbond is a very poor communicator. You really have to sit and read his posts a few times to find a way it makes sense.

I think what he's saying is that it must be profitable at the current prices, or close to the current prices, otherwise stores would have had to drop prices to make sales, and is just ignoring the point about irrationality comment in your previous post.

People buy graphics cards because cryptocurrencies are a huge fad and people are enamored by the prospect of a get rich quick scheme.

Whether it's actually profitable to mine is another question altogether. For many cryptos it is a significant loss (initial cost + cost of power consumption). For some it may be slightly profitable, I recall seeing ETH is one of the better ones.
