There's little doubt that Republicans have gerrymandered more than Democrats.
Democrats have nearly a 10 point lead over Republicans nationally among self-identifying adults, so the Republicans have to make up for that somehow in order to stay competitive.
Be it gerrymandering or voter suppression laws, Republicans have disproportionately high representation in our government. This is also exacerbated by the fact that small states get the same number of senators as large states, and most smaller states are Red, but that's just a consequence of our founders' compromise on the subject, and I'm fine with that.
It's also exacerbated by the fact that older folks are way more likely to vote than younger folks, and older people are more likely to be Republican. But there's nothing unfair about that, young people just need to vote more.
In other words, through a combination of many factors, both fair and unfair, Republicans have way more representation than they actually have in reality. They should be thrilled they have the House and the Senate in a country where there is a 48-39 edge of Democrats to Republicans among voting-age adults.
