So German election results:

CDU win, AfD #2 beating out the leftist SPD.

Considering the CDU beat AfD, Germans have not yet woken up and have given a mandate for what is to come

A lot is still up in the air right now because one of the smaller parties is right on the bubble of making it into parliament (Germany has a 5% threshold). This, in turn, will determine if the center-right CDU needs one or two leftist coalition partners to form a government if they keep their promise of upholding the so-called "firewall" to the populist-right AfD.

I'll write a bit more once the final result and the actual coalition options have been determined. In any case, Germany is looking ahead at a continuation of the shitty status quo with only minor corrections. The bigger picture is that Germany is still trapped in the political dead end into which Merkel maneuvered the country. In spite of an increasingly fractured political landscape, mounting problems and challenges as well as insurgent parties on both the left and right fringes of the party spectrum, Germany's mainstream parties still seem fundamentally unwilling to break out of the impasse.

That was already expected based on the polls. Bye felicia...

The BSW is right on the bubble though, and might mess up the coalition arithmetic if they make it.

BSW sounds BSE, a sickness. Better get rid of it at very start. I am just happy she killed "Die Linke" by partitioning the electors. Die Linke was raised by USaid and BSW by Russians to destabilize Germany.

We need to reintroduce compulsory military service and become independent from the US etc. Even France is annoying AF because they've got a proper army. You can't do that with leftwing softies (soft literally und figurativly ).

Die Linke is the legal and spiritual successor of the SED, the former ruling party in socialist East Germany. They only surged at the very end of this campaign, at a time when USAid was already being gutted by Elon, so I really doubt that they were propped up by them.

The BSW was surging 6-12 months ago, when they were positioning themselves as staunch "left-wing nationalists", advocating for a strong social safety net combined with a pretty hardline anti-immigration stance. They collapsed over the past 6 months, when they started neglecting economic issues and migration and went all on advocacy for a peace deal in Ukraine as their dominant issue.

Die Linke completely adopted extreme left ideals from the US including genders and other bullshit. I am sure they had USaid influence. BSW is a "Rattenfänger" party which is very Putin friendly (very suspicious, she was against immigration at first then changed her mind, feeble positions). I am sure they also had support from there. CDU is free from Merkel and Merz could get huge support from the US if he starts proper boot licking with Trump & co.

- Die Linke toned down the woke cultural issues during this campaign and went all on on kitchen table issues, plus a strong campaign on social media. They snagged most of the undecided voters on the left.
- For decades, Sarah Wagenknecht (the founder, leader and namesake of the BSW) has always been vaguely Russia friendly and has always had trouble making up her mind and firmly standing for any particular thing.
- The CDU still has a strong Merkelite wing, and Merz will have to coalesce with the Social Democrats, and potentially also the Greens, so his wiggle room for kissing Trump's feet will be very limited anyway. He also has close ties to the Washington establishment which is fundamentally opposed to Trump.

He has to become smart and shaft the Merkelite from CDU. That way, he can welcome back original CDU electors from AFD.
