Repubs now leading Dems by 3% on the generic congressional ballot after trailing by 3% in early September in the latest poll by Quinnipiac. (Yes, that's the pollsters which had Biden winning Wisconsin by 17% and Florida by 11% in the 2020 cycle).


One poll by a crappy pollster should not be taken as an ironclad fact, but if this trend hardens, it does not bode well for their outlook in the midterms.

Dems probably need to be at least +3 in order to have a 50/50 shot. Given the way things are going with gerrymandering right now, there probably isn't going to be much difference between +5 GOP or -5 GOP. I think the Democrats are looking at historical trends and the current political landscape and realize that this is their final shot to make any sort of progress from their POV.
