Vance dropped an absolute nuke on the Eurocrats and said a lot of things which needed to be said for a long time.
I agree with pretty much everything he said in this speech.

Nonetheless, this was not the right occasion imho for this kind of speech. He barely said anything about security, and the US want to get the Europeans on board for their Ukraine peace plan which would see Europeans providing soldiers for a peacekeeping mission. The US also want the Europeans to spend more on their militaries, take on more responsibility for their own defense, buy more American goods and pay the lion's share of Ukraine's rebuild. Frontally assaulting and insulting key allies while you want their cooperation on a lot of fields right now doesn't strike me as strategically smart.

I don't think Europe can do anything for Ukraine if the United States won't sell weapons to them for Ukraine.
As far as his critique of European 'Ideals' I think we should establish that these European countries need to meet a certain standard of Free democratic values to be partners with the USA.
If EU countries want to treat their citizens like despots, they should be at arms length like despots.

We don't have weapons to sell. The old production facilities aren't ramped up. Current estimates is that it'll take 5-10 years to replace the weapons we gave away between Afghanistan and Ukraine.

We do not currently meet operational readiness standards for our own munitions and armaments. Right now, secured monies exist for replacement of those munitions for the US Military and those contracts are already in process.

The US isn't going to be giving away or selling more equipment for a while. At least, not at any kind of wartime quantity.

I knew that, but the Europeans didn't.
You kinda spoiled my goad post.

Here's their SUPER SUMMIT today, complete joke, the only voice of reason in that meeting will probably be Orban.

This one reminds me of that story from years ago, where a British Cop was diving into a canal to save a Quran.
Then a few weeks apart there was another story where another couple of British cops just stood by and watched some little English kid drowned to death in a different canal.

Hard to believe it’s going anywhere beyond the usual “tough on Russia” rhetorics but what a gift to AfD before elections.

The main issue with Ukraine now is who is going to fight, not who is going to pay

Prediction: If they win, they will approve a package. That package will suffer a million and one delays on acquisition, all blamed on the US. Namely, because we're too busy resupplying our own military. Then the war will be over. Then the monies will magically disappear into coffers designed to further control and influence speech within the EU, just like every other financial windfall they receive due to public naiveté.
