Dude, it's like gaining muscle. Some do it no problem because of genetic factors and some work their ass off and can't seem to get their weight up unless they really overkill on calories and get extra fat with the muscle gains. Fat shaming is like that easy gainer making fun of a guy who works out and never gets into shape (calling him a scrawn or so). I think you might find the latter easy to identify with, iirc...
It's the exact same thing here. Some people have a functioning appetite regulation system. Some people don't get feelings of satiety no matter how much they eat. It's like mocking addicts, anorectics or, hell, even diabetics for not being very motivated about treating their disease (this is so common it's become a phenomenon. And it includes type 1). Such things are recognized by medical professionals yet here we have some would-be pro-science liberals encouraging fat shaming and mind-over-matter type of anti-science opinions. Yeah, call me out on getting triggered. I can't see any motive behind compulsive fat shaming other than being an asshole. I'm definitely against fat acceptance, but i'm also against fat shaming.
Take smoking as an example: when people quit, they usually gain weight. It's common knowledge in medicine. Let's fat shame them? Because they clearly lack willpower (sic!).
energy in vs energy out that is all that determines weight, there are no medical conditions that can defy the laws of physics
there is no person who is morbidly obese that isn't over-eating and there is no person who is frail and thin who isn't under-eating - exercise has little to do with this - and when was the last time you saw people making fun of skinny or fat people at the gym anyway?
over eating and under eating are both symptoms of other problems usually mental disorders
it's a free country so of course you're allowed to smoke yourself to death the way you can eat yourself to death but we should be actively discouraging both - and note that fat shaming wasn't a thing until these fat activists started complaining about everything under their sun including their doctors as fat shamers
you know how cigarette packs come with images of the health risks on the cover? we need to start putting images of the health risks of morbid obesity on the boxes and bags of big macs
