Three Dutch hackers got access to Trump's twitter account in 2016 after the hacker conference BruCON. Two weeks before the US elections the hackers got a LinkedIn database with 117 million usernames and passwords. The database circulated around the criminal world since 2012, but only was advertised on dark markets in 2016. After that the document also got the attention of information security experts.

This database also contained data belonging to Donald Trump. The hackers managed to decode the SHA1 hash donaldtrump@trump.com:07b8938319c267dcdb501665220204bbde87bf1d to the following password: yourefired

In amazement this password was accepted by Twitter, but e-mail confirmation was required. donaldtrump@trump.com wasn't accepted, but after some guessing twitter@donaldjtrump.com worked.

Following the discovery of the vulnerability they notified Trump with a disclosure e-mail as well as US CERT. With no reaction to that dissclosure they messaged NCSC-NL (National Cyber Security Center of the Netherlands), who forwarded the message to US CERT again.

US CERT finally responded and acted on the information.

The same hacker group also found out that there is an Ashley Madison account for both donaldtrump@donaldtrump.com and donaldtrump@trump.com, which they verified to have the same password (yourefired) using the bcrypt hashing function.

FBI raids home of conservative conspiracy theorist Jack Burkman

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the home of lobbyist, conspiracy theorist and right-wing operative Jack Burkman early Monday morning.
Burkman confirmed the raid and said he was not arrested. His associate Jacob Wohl said the agents took computers, papers and cellphones from the home but that it was unclear what the federal investigators were seeking.
“It’s quite strange,” Wohl said. He said neither he nor Burkman, to his knowledge, have been questioned by the FBI.
A spokeswoman for the Washington Field Office of the FBI said, “We cannot confirm that at this time.”
Burkman and Wohl have publicized baseless, inflammatory sexual assault allegations against former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony S. Fauci, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), and former Democractic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, among others. Several people have claimed the pair paid them to concoct those accusations.

The Daily Beast reported in the past year that Wohl drafted a $1 million business proposal to game political betting markets by disseminating false information about Democratic presidential candidates.
Wohl, a former stock trader, faces a felony charge in California for selling an unregistered security.
Earlier this year, as President Trump’s longtime friend Roger Stone was fighting his conviction in a D.C. federal court, the pair released juror and grand jury information from the trial.
The Attorney General of Michigan is investigating a racist robocall aimed at discouraging voters in battleground states from casting their ballots by mail. Burkman and Wohl deny involvement in the calls.

A supposed FBI raid of a home of an infamous Republican dirty trickster appears to have been a ruse—one that began falling apart even as its perpetrators managed to dupe a major national newspaper.

On Monday, a Virginia man who responded to a Craisglist ad seeking actors to play FBI agents for a television pilot came forward to say that he’d been roped into the latest hoax orchestrated by bumbling right-wing smear merchants Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl.

Tommy Abraham told The Daily Beast in an interview on Monday that the Craigslist ad offered $400 cash payments to white male actors who agreed to don FBI badges and windbreakers and film a series of scenes at Burkman’s home in Arlington, Virginia. In the pre-dawn hours of Monday morning, Abraham said that he and a handful of others who responded to the ad converged on Burkman’s home and were filmed acting out an FBI raid there. Abraham supplied documentary evidence to back up his assertions, including emails from an address bearing the name of a company Wohl once ran.

By Monday afternoon, news of the fake raid had already been reported as genuine by The Washington Post, and Burkman was insinuating that high-level government officials were retaliating against him for his efforts to root out corruption in Washington. A person going by he name Bev Donahue sent a series of photos and video clips of the “raid” to reporters, and shared them on an eponymous twitter account created in August. But there’s evidence that “Donahue” is just a pseudonym for Wohl. That Twitter account is associated with an email address beginning with “ja” and a cell phone number that, like Wohl’s, ends with the digits 91.
