I'm 28, shes 26. We have a good 10 years to decide. Her parents were 36 when they had her, and Im very aware of the research on birth defects with age and it doesnt affect much. Doubling the rate as is iften touted is only taking it from around 0.1% to 0.2%.

I think its a shame people are missing out on the greatest parts of life.

Talking about politically incorrect and morally dicey arguments: it has indeed become a problem that the lower-education folks in first world countries tend to have more kids than the higher-education folks. The most crucial parts of society, those that drive innovation, productivity and pay the bulk of the taxes, have fertility rates far below replacement level in pretty much every developed country. Meanwhile, the decent but not particularly talented segments of society barely hold their numbers and the worst dregs are procreating like crazy.
