Vitamin D can save you. Zerg rush the stores.
Ironically you can get vitamin D from 15 min of direct sunlight... if your cholesterol levels are normal.
I'd say 40% of the immune system is lifestyle while the other 60% is genetic.
We observe this in animal populations all across the world.
Canada about 20 years ago had a problem with its moose population. The moose population was dwindling but the government couldn't understand why. Their theory was over predation by wolves. They had recently culled a large number of wolves but that didn't increase the population of moose.
So, they hired an ecologist to live in the woods for a year and find out why. The ecologist found out the the wolves were eating mice, not the larger moose. The dwindling moose population had a different cause.
The ecologist found out that a large portion of the gene pool of the moose had weak immune systems and were chronically sick. The fact that the wolves werent large enough in number meant that the sickest moose were allowed to replicate and make the entire population chronically sick by changing the gene pool. Normally the wolves kill and eat the sickest moose and it makes the gene pool of the moose improve over time. The government didn't believe the ecologist until he physically produced proof that the wolves were eating mice and not moose because they are clueless tax and spend liberals of course.
Ecology works similarly to chemistry in that equilibrium are reached as a result of several interrelated factors.
