FDP is the coalition partner who lost the most amount of votes and was ignored by SPD and Greens again and again. There is a theory that Linder refused in order to break up the coalition before the upcoming election, for, as of now, his party would struggle to pass the 5% hurdle.

In a world where Germany isn’t a vassal, they tell them to take a walk and push to end the war. Germany also makes it clear that they won’t be footing the hundreds of billions of dollars post war that will be needed to support/rebuild Ukraine. But tbh that’s unlikely to happen. Germany is likely to increase its debt and tax burden on future German generations while basically sheepishly accepting that they will inherit the Ukraine headache afterwards.


Germans need to get over collective guilt of previous sins and strive for European leadership. No that doesn’t mean you’re on your way to the fourth reich but it should mean some level of selfishness when it comes to economic interests. Subsidizing the south and east was manageable under a strong economy fueled by German industrial prowess and cheap energy. That’s not the case any longer and IMO, if I was German I sure as hell would be thinking about my kids and grandkids over foreigners.

The struggles of Bosch are mostly caused by the transition of the auto industry from combustion cars to EVs, a transition which was always gonna cost countless jobs in the supplier industry. EVs simply need far less parts than ICE engines. This one is on the Green Agenda which German political and corporate leaders foolishly embraced during the second half of the 2010s, rather than on the loss of Russian gas.

Basically, the big German car manufacturers threw their suppliers and their country's Mittelstand under the bus to accomodate the zeitgeist, thinking that it wouldn't make a difference to their own business and profitability whether they sell combustion or electric cars. Now, they realize that EVs are an inferior technology which a majority of the customers reject, and that the cheap Chinese competitors are coming to eat their lunch. Well deserved. Fuck them.

According to a poll by one of Germany's biggest pollsters from Nov 21, only 30% of Germans support supplying Ukraine with Taurus missiles while 61% wouldn't support it. So on this particular issue, Scholz is decidedly on the right side of public opinion. That's he's still the most unpopular politician in the country right now goes to show how badly his government fucked up in pretty much everything else.
