In an exchange missed by most of the media, Trump insulted all of our veterans who have suffered psychological trauma during their overseas tours by saying that only weak soldiers suffer from PTSD, and that therefore our “strong veterans” don’t require psychological counseling when they return home.

There will be plenty of quibbling in the hours ahead, but Donald Trump clearly just created a new batch of problems for himself with his comments [on 3 October 2016], in which he suggested that veterans dealing with mental health problems aren’t “strong” and “can’t handle it.”

Trump simply can't understand what it is, it's easy to imagine what happen when you are completely self centered and you can buy properties everywhere: He does not care about US or anything relevant to a nation, it's only about himself and his circle.

Maybe. But since we know YOU care more about the US than anyone... we will just believe anything you say. :D

No he doesn't have absolute authority.

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a33071940/trump-afghanistan-russia-lawmakers-block-withdrawal/

So we have a democrat penning a bill to limit Trump's ability to draw down on troops in Afghanistan yet you come in here with some horseshit that democrats support him in withdrawing? Dude do some research because your whole opinion is based on things that aren't even true.

Did Trump and his administration make an effort to defeat this amendment? He tweets about the most absurd and ridiculous stuff... did he tweet about this at the time? Maybe he did, I don't know.

This amendment passed this year. What about the previous years? I'm not even sure that amendment makes it impossible to withdraw... there's just probably some budgetary consequences. Again, the politics favors Trump on that. The ads write themselves.... withholding defense dollars because Trump brought our troops home? You underestimate the extent that Trump has a political advantage here... the cult is almost 100% with him on this. At the end of the day he controls where the troops go. It might get a little hazy when he wants to send them somewhere new, but bringing them home? To my knowledge, the power and law is with him.

Democrats support leaving Afghanistan. Some are more concerned than others about what we leave there, and what deal gets negotiated on the way out. I conceded that Trump would get criticized for cutting and running, but it wouldn't be a sustained criticism because most Democrats and most voters want to leave.

It's kind of remarkable that for one of the most important issues you believe in, you give Trump a complete pass, even though the politics are in his favor. That cult koolaid fucks people up.

ITT: dishonest propagandists pretend that there's only one accusation floating around about Trump disrespecting our soldiers.

Did everyone forget the epic shitstorm Trump received from the entire military and state department apparatus as well as the media after he tried to use his authority to unilaterally order an immediate withdrawal from Syria?
Pepe ridge farm remembers...

- The establishment absolutely hated it when Trump actually acted on his authority to withdraw troops, and they indeed raised some good points why he shouldnt do that and take a more cautious, incremental approach.
- In those cases where Trump took a more cautious, incremental approach (e.g. Afghanistan), the same establishment forces did everything in their power to slow walk, delay and undermine the withdrawal.
- And now, our resident establishment shills blame Trump for not having ordered a hasty, immediate withdrawal?! Are you kidding me?

This is the "Trump cannot fail, he can only be failed" argument. Did you people support the guy because he would fold in the face of pushback from the Jews/globalists/hawks?

If Rand Paul got elected in 2016 we would no longer be in Afghanistan. Stop making excuses because Trump failed to deliver.

it's so ridiculous, there is a long list of trump publicly disrespecting / mocking former and current members of the armed forces, and his cultists act like those things he allegedly said were totally out of character for him, lol.

I posted a source talking about a congressional vote in which the Armed Services committee literally put in place certain very difficult to achieve points for troop draw down to happen in Afghanistan and you're doubling down. The purpose of the amendment is specifically to prevent Trump from doing this.

If Democrats supported leaving Afghanistan the bill would have not passed 44-11. There's 26 republicans on that Committee. Let's assume they all voted 'for' this amendment that still means at least 18 other democrats voted to put in place rules making it impossible for Trump to draw down.

It's pretty astounding how on a daily basis you accuse others of something you are guilty of. Someone can post sourced proof showing that Trump did try to bring troops home only to fail because of constant and verifiable opposition and you blame Trump, as if the congressional check had nothing to do with it. There's no complete pass, there's observing reality. He tried to bring troops home, cabal of hawks in both parties acted against it. Easy for an isolationist to choose sides here.
