Now without any other links, that would be just silly coincidence
Except that Jeffrey Goldberg is obsessed with the Godfather movies and has written numerous articles about them and those involved in them, and framed his take on politics through a lens of The Godfather
He contextualized Obama around it, he framed Trump's presidency through it, and he even quoted Obama with direct Godfather quotes he fed him in an interview
Considering the amount of witnesses who have come out
on the record denying Goldberg's claim, and the complete lack of evidence he's presented so far, it seems more likely that Goldberg was building upon the bullshit he knows.
also, there's the aspect where even if you believe Goldberg had real sources making this claim, you'd have to explain why a man so obsessed with the godfather movies and who spent years comparing presidents to them, would not make any such comparison or distinction to an almost identical quote he's attributing to President Trump and what Sonny Corleone said in Part II. A rather conspicuous absence.
