I don't know the timeline of how these charges work nor when this was shared with the FBI but if it's recent enough it might just be a case of not getting their ducks in a row before announcing an investigation. You're pretending like the FBI already deemed it bullshit, when the haven't commented one way or another, only thing they've said it's not Russian disinformation.

Maybe I'm off on the hypothetical tangent far beyond its application here, but I just don't see how NYC prosecutors could make an argument under those definitions for even overt and explicit revenge porn under those circumstances. We can say its a different thing, we can say a layman would recognize the difference- but the definitions are writ in stone. I actually prefer some ambiguity and wiggle room in the law when it comes to sex definitions since they are culturally defined to begin with, something lawmakers never seem to understand. I can channel Justice Potter and say I know it when I see it, but that's not what they put in the law

To go down that route wouldn't Rudy have to implicate himself? The only context I've seen so far was some bullshit like "the girl is playing borat's 15 year old daughter". Not sure if thats actually true though.

The girl was playing a journalist, and she's a 24 year old actress- she never said or did anything to indicate she was underage (multiple outlets stress this). She had drinks with him, is clearly trying to seduce him and take him to the bedroom, and then Borat runs in wearing a half-naked bodypaint lingerie outfit and man-thong and screams "She's 15, she's too old for you, take me instead!", at which point Giuliani storms out and calls the cops.

Trump has pretty much asked for this already. Barr is slow-walking it though. For all we know, it could be a bricked hard drive with nothing of value on it.

Im sensing its a Weiner 2.0, they will announce they are investigating, then it will turn out the laptop has nothing of value or really anything new. more fake stories like this kiddie porn accusation will come out than actual scoops.

so far we have:

that's it. whoever they want can write up a 4 paragraph summary of the above but thats it.

Everything that enters the FBI's wheelhouse enters a blackbox. We can't see what's going on. We don't know if it will ever lead anywhere. We don't know how compromised they are by political intrigue and corruption- we know its been significant, it could be anywhere from minor to near-total. It could be a pit of anti-Trump vipers, it could be Barr doing Trump's dirty work. We don't know if its already concluded, we don't know if they're about to swarm agents to knock down a door in 20 minutes. The few peeks we've had into the FBI's internal deliberations have been usually a disgusting display of incompetence and palace intrigue, but we don't hear the legitimately disproved allegations or even some of the successes.
This is nothing new when I look at what's happened ever since the FBI took over the investigation into Ilhan Omar's numerous felonies and all the evidence publicly available. "Don't hold your breath" seems like sage wisdom
