And people who were NOT at any poing PoWs but instead just loud idiots went and got offended over it. McCain at the time was seen as a better alternative to Bush era politics, even if he was never going to get the votes of Obama crazed liberals. and he held the respect of liberals afterwards as well. there's a silly narrative that McCain was only respected by liberals once he opposed Trump, ala Jeff Flake, but this isnt accurate. of course anyone can find loonie lefties degrading McCain during the 2008 run, but that's not exactly a good statistical analysis.

in any case the conversation of who is a more disrespectful commander to the military he oversees between Biden and Trump is very much valid in a Biden OR Trump thread. i tend to think neither is very respectful, that Biden isn't lauded as a respectful commander by many lefties, and that Trump is lauded by righties as god's gift to the military and veterans. despite disrespecting them for nearly his whole life with what i think we can all agree was a bogus draft deferment and mocking statements about that deferment afterwards.
