I'm not big on drama but I am curious if you're deep in this enough to actually fake something.
At the rest. What were antifa doing there if not to escalate?
What they always do. Offering support and protection to communities under assault by fascist orgs or authoritarian regimes. There would have been a community meeting held beforehand - as there usually is. With members of that community invited to speak and their wishes respected. If antifa are told to peacefully protest they do just that. Because antifascist orgs liaise with the communities they work with.
There was a video of a town hall meeting earleir in this thread I believe. That's what antifa orgs do when they decide they want to support a community. They consult the community on how best they can go about that. In the case of the DAP I believe there were worries from tribal leaders that III% orgs were potentially going to assault the native pickets so antifa were there to defend against those.
Contrary to your idea of antifa being just some kids putting on a mask and going out to punch people there are generally organisational structures in place for each area and members that consult the community about the plans of the fash and what they should do in response.
