seriously funny meme but pushing me into some thinking about americans: are they the reflection of our rebellious and barbaric unconscious?

Imho, it's the echo of the wild west era, when people had to get by and solve their problems on their own and could not count on support from the state or anyone else. During that time, it was the strong and adventurous who thrived while the weak and fearful fell behind.
This cultural influence explains a lot about modern-day America, for example their individualism, their love of guns, their scepticism to statism/big government policies, their distrust of authorities, the desire to play by their own rules, their trust in their own strength, etc.

if they were genuinely 'rebellious' in nature, you wouldn't have one side being completely ok with citizens being snatched off the streets in unmarked vehicles by fascist goons, simply for protesting police violence and racial inequality - or with a president blatantly misusing the office to enrich himself and his family, and expanding his powers while all the so called 'checks and balances' are being exposed as entirely insufficient and toothless.

if anything, it's a reflection of how hyper partisanship and constant propaganda has robbed americans of any truly held values and principles, that even things that are universally accepted - like the importance of combating man made climate change, or common sense measures against a pandemic - are somehow controversial issues amongst americans. that is very much the opposite of some innate barbaric root, it's the result of a deliberately outrage machinery, established to produce dissent, in order to distract from the fact that their ruling class keeps robbing them blind.

like, literally:

So if not rebellious it's at least barbaric
Maybe scared, trapped individually too. They are humans too after all.

oh man, that is such a lazy and bullshit narrative. that's like claiming your racism and support for authoritarian leaders is an echo of the nazi era - guess what, those are relatively recent events, not some primitive ancient instincts from your lizard brain. and guess what, despite the propaganda, many americans actually support 'socialist' policies like some kind of universal healthcare, worker protection, minimum wages... that romanticised image of rugged individualism is part of the propaganda to justify the exploitation - and of course it's the less educated side that swallows it uncritically, lol.

He's a bit right, they need roots and it's the only thing they have. We also love to watch this sad show ... In movies.
And you are right too about that romanticised image: it's definitely THE capitalistic tool of explotation.

I never claimed that there is no support for 'socialist' policies in America. It's still a fact that the things I mentioned are far more prevalent in the U.S. than in any other Western country.

And yes, cultural influences and traditions will of course be passed on (to some degree) from generation to generation. East Asian societies are still shaped by Confucianism and strongly collectivistic, the West is still influenced by the Age of Enlightenment, the US have a penchant for rugged individualism and guns, African and Middle Eastern societies tend to be very tribalistic, etc.

It's so amusing to me that the government and major Party in control of the government says "don't wear a mask, it's a hoax, reopen everything for the benefit of capitalists!" while the technocratic class who earned their reputations through merit say "wear a mask and flatten the curve!" -- yet the "merit should be the main basis of our society, fuck the government! 1984!" screaming crowd are quite literally sucking the dick of the Party, rejecting masks and flattening the curve, and shitting on the meritocratic class. Because feelings.

"Merit should be the basis of society"

So if somebody from a disadvantaged background has equal test results to somebody of a privileged background, clearly they're more meritorious since they had to work harder?

"NO THAT'S FASCISM. RACIST REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
