He's not wrong. If you have medicare or medicaid, the tax payer pays for it. If you have it through your company, your company pays for it (by garnishing YOUR wages). If you can't pay your bill, the hospital absorbs the costs by charging everyone else. So the question isn't whether or not we can afford it, that's already proven. The question is, which system is most efficient and works with our values?
The system has been FUBAR since the 1950's when SS happened AND we mandated that employers must cover health. Before then healthcare was cheap and you didnt need multimillion disaster relief funds for treatments. That choice cascaded and led pharmaceutical companies to take advantage by basically passing absurdly high costs onto insurance companies.
Trump's legislation targeting big pharma and price transparency so far has made a bigger difference than Obama did in the past twenty years.
Its arguably why the media targets Trump so regularly. The advertising revenue for media companies comes from big pharma companies over 80%.
