You will always have members of society who end up in the ghetto, trailer parks, etc. As long as people have the opportunity and resources to adapt, that's all you can really ask for. Hard work, in of itself, shouldn't be rewarded. What SHOULD be rewarded is productivity. I guess I'm not interested in bringing everyone else down to prop up a special interest group so we'll have to agree to disagree there.

The point is not the existence of ghettos, trailer parks and the like, it's their scope. Just look at Europe, where ghettos as much smaller than in the U.S.
Also, this is not about propping up special interest groups or rewarding lacking productivity, this is about social peace and cohesion.

When entire swaths of the country decline into trailer park meth hell, that is a problem and must be addressed. If it's not, if the wound is left to fester, you get someone like Trump.

I agree that it needs to be addressed and it should be done by ensuring they have access to education and retraining if they are older. I really don't want to introduce economic inefficiencies that bring everyone else down. Europe has smaller ghettos because they have very generous services...not because they saved jobs that deserve to be outsourced.

At some point, your job will also become outsourceable. There's millions of highly educated Chinese and Indians who will happily do your job for a third or half of the money once the surrounding infrastructure and economic conditions are in place in their countries.

My political macro-goal is to preserve good wages in the first world while bringing up wages in the developing world. By contrast, a neoliberal globalization in which everyone is pitted against everyone else will only trigger a race to the bottom and, in the long run, bring our wages, worker protections, environmental standards and the like down to the level of emerging countries while a very small number of people at the very top of the food chain get insanely rich in the process.

But yes, let's agree to disagree on this issue.

On average, sure. But even if just 10% of the Indian population reach an education comparable in quality to NA/EU, that's 140 million people we will have to compete with under the doctrine of neoliberal globalization.

One would think that, but I have worked for many years and have yet to meet their geniuses.

They also have a big issue with "pleasing" the customer that makes all of them yes men and women and it's super detrimental.

Sure, but there's no reason to believe that the quality of Indian organization and work will stagnate on its current level. At least the top 10-20% of the country will make rapid inroads over the coming decades.

Well see, I haven't seen any (or almost any, I could be biased) progress in several years, maybe more than a decade.

It's also a personal thing, if you want to get better at something, you get better at something, you don't need to wait for a collective growth.
