All public healthcare would do is increase the negotiation pool and simplify the administration, which saves money, which is why even the most conservative groups admit it would save us trillions over 10 years.

He's not wrong. If you have medicare or medicaid, the tax payer pays for it. If you have it through your company, your company pays for it (by garnishing YOUR wages). If you can't pay your bill, the hospital absorbs the costs by charging everyone else. So the question isn't whether or not we can afford it, that's already proven. The question is, which system is most efficient and works with our values?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Obamacare didn't work." It's a massive massive bill so I'd like to know which part you're referring to.

We've had to give people emergency medical treatment since the Reagan era. That money obviously comes from somewhere and that somewhere is you, me, and everyone else. The insurance gap is pretty darn small (and the gap is mainly due to young, healthy people which are pretty negligible in terms of resource use). So again, I'm not sure what you mean by "we can't afford it" given that we're already paying for "it" through a variety of ways.

It’s still working. As intended. Premiums are still going up, and insurance profits are at an all time high.
