This makes a point for me.
Look at those figures, now consider that a million americans died.
Now stop and think of these issues..
We had NO IDEA how bad covid would be and had to plan how to best avoid spanish flu numbers..
What if all those figures were tripled? or ten times higher? or 50?
What if we have another pandemic that is that bad?
Should we try to minimize harm or should we worry about "tHe EcONomY"?
you know these aren't mutually exclusive issues right
"tHe EcONomY" isn't some abstract thing that doesn't materially impact people. Define harm.
In retrospect the Swedes had it right, voluntary lockdowns and government support for those electing to isolate, no mandates.
What's a few more trillion on the national debt anyways though huh.
In Canada it means a lot because we don't have the economy to support that debt, and we aren't the global reserve currency.
I've watched the standard of living collapse in my country in the last 10 years, and the national debt explode. We now spend more on debt service than health care...
