No, I am saying Gaza is not necessarily relevant to the question of Apartheid in Israel. Israel should have one supreme authority, the Israeli Government. If you want to say that Gaza is a town or a city, with a mayor, fine, but there should be no authority in all of Israel, that can be an authority equal to the Israeli Government. I cannot think of another country that is so religiously divided and has different leadership and is still the same country (and not two countries). What do they have in common? which then leads to:
1. What do they not have in common.
2. What can one group do, and the other cant.
3. Why would Israel allow an ethnic minority govern itself.
What Israel is doing right now is...quelling an insurrection/protest from an ethnic minority. It has not invaded another country. It is basically doing what Ukraine did for 7 years 2014-2021. In this regard Israel is free to do what it wants, in Israel. A bit like China and Taiwan I guess.
lets not get distracted. the question is: Is Israel an Apartheid state, yes or no, and how do you prove the argument one way or the other.
Now there is the correct question. the answer to which is clear, because ousting that ethnic minority government causes thousands of civilian deaths, as we're currently seeing.
israel, before the retreat which led to the rise of Hamas, tried to govern Gaza. it went poorly. so they said nevermind, you're no longer part of Israel.
and the next question is, well if they aren't part of israel what are they. and the answer is a territorial area stuck in limbo. the international community, not just israel, wont recognize them as a sovereign nation. not just due to the confusing relationship they have with israel, but because their govt is an internationally recognized terrorist organization that couped their way into power by killing the oppisition and winning a sham democratic election.
whether gaza is a country is semantics, whether they are a part of israel isn't. they're not. the aid they receive from israel doesnt make them a part of israel, even if that aid is power, water, and internet. the fact that they have a blockade surrounding them doesnt make them a part of the nation that blockades them. israel openly doesnt even want gaza, they dont want to have to blockade it, they dont want to have to deal with it at all.
this "apartheid" label is akin to saying the EU and UK relationship reperesents apartheid. lack of free travel, different rights, etc. APARTHEID!
