Do you hear jackboots at the start of the video? They're coming.

I've been listening to it again recently. The songs are so culturally significant - England in the 1970s was a grim place. Nobody insulted the monarchy or so accurately described the pervasive nihilistic attitude held by working class youth at the time.

Holidays in the sun relates to communism. Bodies depicts an abortion done to a young girl shipped away. God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK are pretty self explanatory ofc. The album is definitely in my top 10

Pretty Vacant is probably one of the top rock songs ever.

But my favorite band of all time is The Clash, which was pretty much their contemporaries/rivals.

For me there is nobody even close. Fugazi is up there. Against Me! is my favorite touring band now...they have some great music. Singer is happy now though, and the music isn't as good because of it.

Bad Religion, The Misfits, Social Distortion, and Rancid. That would be my lineup.

Pretty Vacant is a bloody good riff :P The Clash are awesome too, they had more longevity and were technically 'better' imo. The Sex Pistols are more culturally significant to the punk scene, not sure if The Clash would have had much exposure without them leading the way. But I guess before them were bands like The Ramones and The New York Dolls. Music is just like a chain of influences really.
