I think a bigger problem is that the psychiatrists are told under pain of losing their licenses that they must always affirm. It's been known and is common sense that affirming delusions doesn't make them better, it makes them worse - the practice for a while has just been affirm affirm affirm. Then when reality doesn't agree with the worsening delusions its normal for them, especially men, to violently lash out.
