Here's a genuine question for you:
If "abortion is murder", then the State should have a similar interest in intervening during the pre-meditation stage similar to how it would intervene if Person A had intent to kill Person B. The State would not simply wait idly by until Person A killed Person B to take action.
If, according to your position, both the mother (Person A) and the fetus (Person B ) constitute a whole person and abortion is murder, then the State should be proactively interfering if/when the mother intends to seek an abortion, right? What would this look like though should your position become enshrined in law?
Abortion is not murder in the traditional sense of the word murder. The whole point of the law is to make it hard, inconvenient and expensive for people to casually end life, which is the right thing to do. People are still going to get abortions but such laws will undoubtedly dent rates, which is a utilitarian net positive for us life advocates. I have no interest in putting people in jail, but next time someone wants to have an abortion at least they'll remember how hard and inconvenient it is and some of the hoops they have to go through which hopefully at least somewhat sway them to not go through with it.
