In this case damage to the platform, scrub

Put a number on it. "X" person impersonating Elon Musk said <insert parody comment here> about the owner of the platform, not about the platform itself. What tangible harm should "X" be held liable for (especially if you're going to argue damage to the platform)?

She didn't say he drinks his own urine which is clearly the example I used

Do I need to quote myself to refresh your memory?

u dont need to respond at all tbh, you're dodging so much its a white flag and its clear u cant make a case so you're dancing. im not even convinced u knew enough about the law in question to be worthy of correcting, your followups suggest not.

you cant at all make a case of how any person's actions caused a specific amount of damage to musk or twitter. like i said we can all logically see it's there vaguely, but thats not how courts rule. a straight line must be drawn.

that's like saying shooting a gun at a target range has a basis in illegality because "go shoot a kindergartener and see how that works out".

See how these lefists talk?

It always involves violence.

Wrong, I said imposters should face legal action and that's my opinion.

I backed it up with a source right at the beginning --> impersonating people with the intend to do harm is a criminal offense.

Actually it does have basis in legality and law.

Go impersonate a government official.

Let us know how it works out in 5-10

This isn't even an apt comparison.

With regard to Twitter (which is the entire subject of this thread - it and its new owner), I could change my display name to "Ted Cruz", then make Tweets saying that "I, Ted Cruz, like to drink my own urine", and there would be no legal repercussion whatsoever. My display name may be different, but my actual Twitter handle would be the same, so there would be no way someone could claim I was really and truly trying to impersonate Ted Cruz. Twitter is well within its rights to make that a violation of their ToS, but there's absolutely ZERO chance I'd ever face real legal problems over that.

Okay,. attempt to impersonate paul on d2jsp. My point is still valid and you're dancing around it.

It's common practice on EVERY online platform to ban users whom impersonate staff.

as i have explained to you before but maybe this time it will help.

what we agree on:
1. they're impersonating Musk
2. it is to harm him
3. it's a violation of the TOS and should result in punishment in twitter

what apparently only i understand:
1. impersonation isn't the crime
2. this isn't a case of fraud (what most impersonation cases are)
3. this is defamation (rare for impersonation to be applied to defamation)
4. defamation requires you to prove an action caused X$ of damage
5. defamation requires you prove that only that person's actions caused the damage

So you agree with this statement "anyone on twitter should be allowed to impersonate staff"?

I'm not dancing around anything, because I'm not claiming that those online platforms don't have that right. I've already stated that Twitter, JSP, whatever have the right to ban users for that. But it's a TERMS OF SERVICE (ToS) issue, NOT a legal one. Paul couldn't take me to court for impersonating him here, but he absolutely could ban me.
