Democrats' bid for new Trump impeachment witnesses likely to fall short

This ofc makes me wonder excatly how much damage this will do to the Dems, if the acquittal does go through.

Thats a republican outright saying trump did it but he doesn't think its enough to impeach, how does that damage the dems?

Well, would YOU re-elect Congressmen who just wasted 3 years and untold tax dollars on a witch hunt, and then failed at it?

Again, the republicans admit it was not a witch hunt, they just disagree whether it is impeachable.

Yeah... I dont think this vote will spell doom at the ballot box for Republicans, but I also really dont see how it could be a net positive for the GOP.

IMO educated-enough republicans (who can understand the meaning of what he did) and a good load of these undecided independants, by a few points or more (we don't know yet!) Trump AND the Rep. Senatorz.

No the Republicans didn't admit is was not a witch hunt. There's no doubt it was a witch hunt.
Trump admitted he did it long ago. His point and that of the Republican Senators is that what he did was not illegal. The Dems KNOW this ofc, yet still followed up on RussiaGate and KavanaughGate, with UkraineGate.

If I was a Democrat, I would be voting for Congressmen that either didn't do stupid things like these... witch hunts, or if they did, then at least could succeed at them.

There's a lot of Congressional seats to be filled in 2020. It's not looking too good for the Democrats after this 3 year long fiasco. Folks need to remember that this "fiasco" wasn't just the "Gates", it included tons and tons of court cases, tossed out by the SC as well.

Even a die hard Dem voter is gonna have to wonder if they made the right choice with their congressional representatives. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if the Democratic congressmen will break all the rules with things like FISA, the dossier, etc., etc., that they'll do the same thing when dealing with the average American.

No witnesses will be called. Trial itself will end. Since no actual conclusion will be reached it will become a major election issue and Republicans running for reelection will be hammered for covering up a crime. They can only lose votes form this fiasco and Trump's behavior.

GOP will continue reacting to Pelosi, and the tail will wag the dog for a bit longer. Given there was zero change of actual impeachment, the GOP did quite a bit if damage to themselves from this to their guys and gals not named Donald Trump.

Even if no impeachment was possible, it was worth the effort to expose the ranking members of the Republican senate as the hypocrites they are, especially with their displayed willingness and the tricks they attempted to have the people who report wrongdoing to be afraid. This with the Ag Gag bills the plutocrats keep trying to pass pretty soon it will be criminal to report a crime against the rich and power. If withholding foreign aid for personal political favors isn't an impeachable offense as is the current Republican reasoning and the argument from legal team, then the president is immune to impeachment going forward, and we are another step closer to authoritarian capitalism, our ultimate direction.

Imagine the current environment today if Jeb Bush hadn't married a Mexican lady and fathered a bunch of Mexican kids? the whole cuckcalling thing probably wouldn't have even happened.
