Nah, I gotta disagree. I, for my part, want to live in a pluralistic democracy with a clear separation between church and state, a country in which the government doesn't sanction groups or businesses for stuff as mundane as wishing others happy christmas, happy hanukkah or whichever holiday muslims/bhuddists have.

Yes, a functioning society needs boundaries and needs an actual enforcement of these boundaries - but they should be drawn where actually toxic behavior begins, rather than going "anyone who doesn't conform to our state religion can get fucked". We won't preserve our way of living by becoming a totalitarian, religious shithole ourselves.

if they're strictly selling halal food its actually kind of reasonable. You'd have to draw that line somewhere, because if someone ordered a cake with a cartoon of mohammed getting fucked by a horse on it you'd be pretty safe saying its not halal anymore. The quran makes some pretty pointed distinctions in halal proscriptions about the intent and ritual of food, like animals sacrificed otherwise in compliance but done so as tribute to idols being a transgression
I think it would be pretty directly covered by  Quran 2:173

Quote
He has only forbidden you what dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that over which any other (name) than (that of) God has been invoked; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring, nor exceeding the limit, no sin shall be upon him; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

With "Christmas" being an invocation of another god. Of course, 7th century islam was more interested in combating worship of Ahura Mazda and not trying to parse the theological implications of doctrinal objections to other people of the book worshipping isa bin maryam as a living god

You don't understand. It wouldn't be fair to disqualify a presidential candidate every time they told their armed supporters to go directly from one of their rallies to the capital to disrupt an official proceeding! The very reasonable centrist Black told me so!
