The rates have actually been increasing all across the developed world in recent weeks. This latest surge was particularly steep and early in the U.S., but other countries seem to be struggling too.

They're not even in the same ballpark though. America is pretty unique with it's selfishness, ignorance, etc.

The MN numbers are trending up and are similar to April now. Have to make a judgement to travel 4 hours to attend funeral. :/ Do you go to funeral and risk yourself, family and friends... or attend in another way and deal with social blowback

Projected onto the US population (which is 36.4 times higher), Israel had the equivalent of 1.9m new cases since mid-June; the US itself had 2.7. And per capita, Brazil's increase over that timeframe is quite exactly matching that of the US too.

So you're maybe not entirely in your own class of awfulness. :unsure: :wacko:

Could you take a voluntary test 1-3 days before the travel? With a fresh, negative test, the risk to your family and friends might be more tenable.

I was mainly comparing to Europe and other industrialized nations in the East. South America has obviously been a disaster and continues to be. Israel presents an interesting case but there's no doubt in my mind that they will pull through. The people there are much more collective.

Are they? Afaik, Israel is a very tribalistic society when it comes to domestic politics. Little love lost between secular Jews, ultraorthodox Jews and Muslim Israelis. They are more collective within their "tribe", and generally fairly unified on foreign policy.

No, but I could take one after attending although that is probably too soon? Mainly don't want to bring it back and expose pregnant wife.
