If the incidental death of civilians is unacceptable, and Hamas continues to drive ambulances, shoot missiles from schools, and place military targets within residential neighbourhoods, then what we're saying in effect is that Israel cannot legally or morally prosecute a war against Hamas in Gaza. And because we're simultaneously told that the blockade of Gaza is similarly unlawful, we're really saying that another October massacre is in Israel's near future and they cannot prevent it.
Now I think that's a losing argument, but the posters itt should argue in good faith and defend that argument if it's what they believe. The hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth over civilian deaths is pretty transparent cover for what they clearly believe.
The incidental deaths of civilians isn't unacceptable, it has to do with the amount and whether they are actually incidental or part of a larger strategy of ethnic cleansing/indiscrimimate bombing. If the Israeli government didn't lie constantly to justify their actions maybe people would be more trusting of their claims, can't really blame that on Hamas, if they are so horrible then Israel shouldn't need to lie.
Perhaps Israel
could legally and morally prosecute a war against Hamas in Gaza but the problem is they are not doing so which kind of makes it a moot point. They concocted a fake narrative to feed the western world about crazed militants beheading babies and burning people alive and most if not all of their claims have been either proven false or backtracked to such a degree they've become meaningless.
They have two options IMO, bend over backwards to make peace by any means necessary or wipe out the Palestinians completely. If they choose the latter then they will likely still be targeted by arab/muslim militant groups for the rest of their existence so the former is the only real option for long term stability.
Likely they will just continue the cycle of cleansing Palestinians from their land until international condemnation grows too strong, make a "peace" deal and do it all again in a few more years. At least until the US decides they are more trouble than they are worth or until it doesn't matter what the US decides.
