Damn, that sucks. Drones nowadays are so advanced. Why did that shot get the green light? Wouldn't it make sense to try and wait for a better time, like they see the surroundings and i'm sure they've been monitoring that vehicle for awhile.

Shit like this will evangelize thousands against us. All the anti-American factions need is one example like this to point too. Whatever sympathy the regular Afghanis have towards being friends with America quickly dissipate after shit like this.

yeah well you’re smart enough to know this is a global public relations battle on top of a real battle, and “drone strike kills 6 kids” is not the headline anyone wants during an already turbulent time. our “wartime” allies already are pissed off at us and this won’t exactly quell extremism amongst the forces there

For context, the bombing on Thursday killed some 170 Afghans.

If this family of nine was killed by the secondary explosion when a drone blew up a car bomb, then that's a worthwhile (yet still horrible :( ) price to pay to prevent this bomb on wheels from detonating in a much larger crowd.

I really don't think anyone important is going to care. Maybe Ilhan Omar will shed some crocodile tears but that's about it.

If it really was collateral damage from stopping a car bomb before detonating in a much larger crowd, there is nothing to criticize tbh. If true, it was the correct course of action, as tragic as it is.
If there's someone to be morally outraged about, it's the terrorists who send car bombs and don't care about the hundreds of civilians their plan will kill.
