https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/09/23/fact-checking-trumps-latest-claims-biden-ukraine/
let me fact check the WaPo fact checkers here for a second
notice that they're quibbling over the lack of proof that Biden's interference to fire Shokin is connected to Hunter's firm being investigated. Contemporaneous events, a clear motivation, in line with west vs east corruption claims and the competing interests of ukrainian oligarchs, sure. But there is indeed no proof that's the reason he shook down ukraine to fire shokin. That's like having the gunman, the smoking gun and the corpse, but not the motive. It could have been justifiable. Nevermind that its inherently a blatant violation of sovereignty and clearly geopolitical wrangling to corruptly manipulate a foreign country no matter how you slice it- that's why manafort & podesta were there to begin with, that's all modern ukrainian history.

But the point I noticed is that when they bring up Trump talking to ukraine, they directly accuse him of withholding aid to shake down ukraine;

wait wait wait
so this presumption of innocent intentions and no corrupt motive only extends to Biden, not Trump. Not only do they have no proof that Trump withheld aid from Ukraine to coerce them into investigating Biden, but their only source for this story already debunked it and said there was no threat to withhold aid or offer of quid pro quo.

So in order to give Biden a free pass, they have to assume that no matter if he had a conflict of interest and a clear corrupt benefit to firing the prosecutor, the fact that he could have done it for legitimate reasons means we must assume he is innocent. But in Trump's case, even though there's no evidence of a corrupt motive and no claims of that, and the aid has already been released, we have to assume there was a corrupt motive by wantonly theorizing without even evaluating the logic of whether it would be rational for Trump.

The fact is, this WaPo drivel is just as crap as tinfoil hat conspiracy mongering by Alex Jones, the only difference is these dolts act like their farts don't stink. You can dress it up in all the pretenses of authority and integrity you want, but if you're just spewing up inane shit that doesn't hold up to basic logical scrutiny, you're rolling in the mud with the pigs. And that was without me getting into their lack of context of how lines like "Biden’s action was coordinated with other major players in the region and celebrated at the time because Shokin was widely seen as a failure." are absolutely ridiculous when you've got an appreciation for the ukrainian situation. That would be like Putin's media saying that the annexation of Crimea was widely celebrated with other major players in the region because the Ukrainian government was corrupt and taken over by western imperialists. When you are leading the corrupt and cynical operation, the agreement of those beholden to you is not legitimization.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/bill-weld-trumps-treason-over-ukraine-calls-for-death-penalty-republican-primary-challenger-says

2020 Republican primary contender Bill Weld has finally defined his campaign to unseat Donald Trump in the primary elections that won't even be held, by declaring that if elected he'd have Trump put to death.
He called on fellow republicans to support his plan to execute Trump, presumably by lethal injections, hanging, firing squad or being forcefed copious amounts of baked beans until he bursts.
"That is treason. It’s treason pure and simple, and the penalty for treason under the U.S. code is death,” Weld told MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “That’s the only penalty.”
Nevermind the part where its actually not the only penalty- it could be a $10,000 fine or 5 year prison sentence- Bill Weld dialed it straight to 10 and stood his ground;
“The grounds for removal of office, impeachment, are treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors,” he said. “We don’t have to worry about bribery anymore, we don’t have to worry about other high crimes and misdemeanors, although I think he committed many. We have treason and we can go right for the hoop.”

You might not be able to vote for him in your state Icemage, but you can still contribute to his campaign

omfg

the part where he tells other senate republicans that they will all lose in 2020 if they keep supporting trump is particularly funny, since it shows how out of touch with reality this guy is.

yeah wapo's really going to bat for Biden here, oblivious to the fact this Ukraine scandal is designed to have the means to get him out of the way for the (D) candidate of their choosing, and conveniently have an angle to 'blame drumpf' for Biden's potential downfall.
Pres Obama is staying oddly quiet on this subject and Biden overall, and given that he was in charge during this supposed event it suits him to.

Biden is on video last year bragging about this in detail and somehow there is no proof per Wapo. well i mean he did say earlier this year that he was Vice President in 2018 https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/456987-biden-mistakenly-says-he-was-vp-during-2018-parkland-shooting so maybe wapo is hoping that Biden was just confused or something

Regarding Ukraine Trump thing, a couple of good articles(first one is best for the facts):

https://thebulwark.com/truth-lies-and-the-nonsense-trump-biden-ukraine-false-equivalency/
https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2019-09-23/trump-ukraine-biden-military-aid

Right-wingers debunking the prominent right-wing group is good times.

Particularly satisfying quote from it:

It bears mentioning that in contrast to the Trump foreign policy where diplomats words are meaningless and are regularly undermined by haphazard Trump tweets based on Fox News segments, during the Obama years—and every other modern presidency—ambassadors spoke on behalf of the government and their comments were vetted by the State Department and White House.

this article from WaPo hits pretty close to home. I mean that literally but eh

A fairly liberal small town in Minnesota known for its farming and meatpacking industry wound up taking on the most illegal aliens per capita of any town in the US. It went from 100% white to 66%+ central americans/eastasian/etc, with main street now a line of mexican restaurants, guatemalan, laotian. The schools are packed far beyond capacity with illegal alien kids, with the journalists relating the story of a pregnant 15 year old honduran girl in the country illegally. The taxes to support the schools are still paid almost entirely by the white farmers, and every election the city keeps pushing a referendum to hike taxes to pay for the schools. The district flipped republican in 2016 and stayed in 2018 by a hair.

“On a weekly basis I’m told I hate children,” said Bosma, 37, whose kids go to a private Christian school. “I’m just a young guy trying to make a living for myself and put food on the table for my family. I look at the bank account at end of the month and say, can I afford another $200 in property taxes this year?”

Brink also insists he isn’t prejudiced. His own grandparents were immigrants from Holland, and his parents spoke some Dutch. But he doesn’t believe Worthington should be a destination for the undocumented.

“I wish they would have another ICE raid,” he said. “They need to get rid of the illegals.”

The 15-year-old sat near the classroom window, her belly nearly touching the desk in front of her.

She hadn’t known she was pregnant when she left Honduras in February, after the father who’d left her behind as a baby called to tell her to join him and his new family in America. Then she’d started throwing up in her hotel room in southern Mexico.

She’d thought about turning back, back to the boyfriend who had begged her to stay.

Instead, she continued north, crossing the Rio Grande in a raft before spending two days in a Texas Border Patrol facility and a month in a Florida shelter.

Now she was 3,000 miles from home, back in school and about to give birth.

“I want to learn a little bit more about you guys,” her teacher said, first in English, then Spanish.

When it was her turn, the girl gave her name and said she’d arrived four months ago. She didn’t mention that her child was a boy or that she wanted to name him after the dad he might never meet.

She had worried she’d be surrounded by kids who didn’t speak her language. Instead, she found herself in a class with 14 Guatemalans and two Salvadorans.

Rambo wasn't bad. Prolly won't see it again though.

Was expecting a friday night tipsy actionfest.

First half of the movie is an actually really emotional grueling tragedy. Second half is the action.

exactly my thoughts.
but hey, at least I made it past the headline and until the second sentence, where the author of this lampoon wrote about the "Biden nontroversy".

You have to love how this piece of propaganda spends whole paragraphs with emotionally charged life stories of the immigrant children, but only one very short sentence on what is the actual crux of the matter:

Quote
Even as Worthington has changed, however, its tax base still depends largely on white farmers like Brink, pitting the town’s future against its past.

Not only is this influx of immigrants indeed a huge financial burden on the taxpayers of such a small town, but it also implies that all the adult immigrants (the relatives to whom the unaccompanied minors are brought) in that community dont contribute a lot to its tax base.

So on a factual basis, the situation in Worthington fully confirms the arguments and fears of immigration critics, yet the entire article is written as if the takeaway would be something along the lines of "dying white smalltown community struggles to cope with its future out of heartless, racist reasons".
