So far in 2018, just 275 people out of the 252,187 arrests at the US-Mexico border have been members of MS-13 (0.11%). Only 0.2% of all arrests at the US-Mexico border are of gang members.

Trump is misrepresenting MS-13 and gang illegal immigration to fear-monger and rally his base. It's an intentionally dishonest, racist tactic.

It isn't just about gangs. It's about numbers.
We can't even afford to take care of our own poor let alone other country's poor and down trodden.

When we're talking immigration, we need to keep the big picture in mind.

1. The statistics are apprehensions.
2. It is not 'racist' or 'intentionally dishonest' to mention extremely violent gangs when talking about immigration. Find your balls, sir.
3. Confirmed MS-13 members apprehended at the border do not have to be a large percentage of total apprehensions or arrests in order for it to be relevant or good to stop them, or for the serious problems that gangs like MS-13 and others are causing to be real, or to recognize a difference in position between the democrats and himself.

It's an egregious and intentional misrepresentation of the facts.

Obviously I agree that any nonzero illegal immigration of MS-13 members is bad, but the amount of instances Trump has used MS-13 in his rhetoric is vastly disproportional to the studied magnitude of the actual problem.

It's a fear-mongering tactic, plain and simple.
