That's the inconvenient truth the climate activists and their political surrogates still need to understand: there currently is no, and for the foreseeable future will be no appetite among the broader public for the huge sacrifices in terms of purchasing power and quality of life that the implementation of their climate agenda would entail.
The kinds of policies needed to rein in climate change via sacrifice and regulations alone will never be able to find democratic majorities before it's already too late. It will not be possible, from a realpolitik point of view, to solve climate change without technological breakthroughs.
It really
is similar to the covid crisis, where NPIs and lockdowns alone were also unable to solve the issue and we had to wait for a medical solution in the form of vaccines and treatments.
