You claimed he wasn't impeached. He was impeached. Twice. Bill Clinton was impeached. And similarly acquitted. Nobody talked about non-presidential impeachments but you, and nobody cares or is willing to acknowledge your deflection.

Second, impeachment isnt just about removal from office. There is also an Ineligibility Clause which bars any person from holding any future office in the United States. This was the whole point of this impeachment.

all i was saying is that if a person in such a high power fucks up so bad, to the point that they get impeached, mitch mcconell set the precedent that as long as that person has resigned or their term has ended, that they should just get let off the hook. Screw it, let them serve in office again, even if they have comitted high crimes and misdemeanors...

Your post is meaningless. The fact that Trump was acquitted, and the reasons behind his acquittal don't speak to his character, which was your actual claim.

Trump wasn't acquitted because he has good or bad character. He was acquitted because the majority of republicans felt that the trial was meaningless and they had no right to exercise jurisdiction.

You literally have no idea what you're talking about. First you claim that he wasn't impeached before he left office, which is demonstrably false, then you claim the result of the conviction trial has something to do with the character of the accused... WTF?

We all know that Dems are terrified that Trump gains a senate seat. We get that they want to invalidate him. We get that there's a secondary reason. Nobody's stupid. But it's, "Removal from office AND prevention from further federal office" and no matter how you try to shift that, it's been the go to as long as there's been office. There's no precedent where a conviction post-office has occurred.
