This is an interesting question that comes down to societies morals right?

Morals are based on the community we live in, the people we're around, how we were raised. A lot of things factor into what a moral is. That's why everyone has a different opinion on so many rules and regulations. So in the western society I would say as a majority, most are against eating "pet" animals. Probably against eating cats, dogs, (some birds), horses.
I don't share these morals. I have nothing against someone who eats a dog or a cat. I'm willing to accept this this moral isn't shared and I'm okay with other versions of the moral existing in my world.

So yes, I'm okay with eating cats or dogs.

[off on a tangent though, it's interesting how some morals divide us so easily. So many people are so similar and only a few controversial opinions will have either side of the political spectrum dehumanize the other side. It's very interesting how fast that happens. How fast we can become the monster we claim the other side is.]

Here is why you shouldn't eat dogs.

1) biological: symbiosis
In our world, some species enter into a biological contract called symbiosis. This tacit biological contract stipulates that they will cooperate to better each other's lives.
For example, there is the crocodile bird and the crocodile. The crocodile never harms the crocodile bird since the bird cleans the crocodile's teeth and ensures the dental health of the crocodile.
Another example is the honey guide bird and the honey badger. The honey guide bird leads the honey badger to a bee's nest and the honey badger takes down the nest to get the honey. The badger leaves small debris of honey for the bird.

In the same vein, humans and dogs have entered into this symbiotic biological covenant 15,000 years ago. Wolves have biologically changed themselves during this time to be companions for humans.
To substantiate, when you look at a dog's dna, they have up to 32 times the genes for amylase production. Amylase is an enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates. This level of amylase enzymatic activity is not seen in wolves.
This shows that wolves have transitioned from carnivores to omnivores to better live with humans since this stark change in amylase production coincides with the rise of human agricultural society.

A second evidence is the intestinal tract length of dogs. It is 8 times longer than wolves. This indicates that the animal is predominantly an omnivore.

Finally, their personality and facial structures have transformed to be obedient to humans.
When you examine a face of a dog, it has many more neonatal facial features compared to wolves.

All these changes took place rather swiftly within 15,000 years. They helped humans cross the Bering strait during the ice age. For the last 15,000 years or so, countless human civilization have benefitted from this symbiotic relationship.
Dogs have indubitably helped mankind survive up until the rise of cities.

As such, for us to infringe this holy contract and betray this symbiotic relationship found in nature goes against the very grain of our DNA.

I have other compelling reasons but will write them if people wanna hear more. :)

dont eat dogs. We owe our prosperity to them.

You could say very similar thing about farm animals,we raise them from birth and care for them greatly up until the point it's time to turn into meat.
A lot of farm animals have been used in "symbiotic relationship"
The dogs help us etc. and we feed them and house them and they should pray I don't alter the deal any further
That's slavery, not a symbiotic relationship like bees and flowers

I never would bc i’m not poverty

but they just euthanize dogs that don’t have owners or bite people,
so idc go ahead n feed em to the homeless or brokies instead of just killing n tossing them

well pets are a bit different from other domesticated animals.

you have to consider the frequency of the interaction.
for pets, we humanize them. For us to kill something we humanized strips us of our humanity.

This is why it is so wrong to eat your pets.
killing something that you humanized is essentially murder.

We can humanize anything, dogs don't depend on us like everyone leads you to believe we just won't let them run wild
Dogs are closer to slaves if we wanna humanize them
I love my little piggies so no one can eat bacon now pfft lol

"In some countries there is an overpopulation of pets such as cats, dogs, and exotic animals. In the United States, six to eight million animals are brought to shelters each year, of which an estimated three to four million are subsequently euthanized, including 2.7 million considered healthy and adoptable.[1][2]"

According to the international relief agency Mercy Corps, around 9 million people die from hunger each year. This is more than the number of deaths from malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis combined. Many of these deaths are children under the age of 5.

Just read those and tell me it's wrong if we sent the dog meat to them instead of just tossing it
