Even if zinc was to vanish today there are plenty of solutions that would replace roofing and nails such as slate, plastic membranes, different metals such as coated aluminium etc
But what do I know?
No you can't replace galvanization of iron with plastic you dum as fuck for even thinking anything could replace zinc, you most likely dont know why zinc is used to begin with but no surprise here you're just showing your ignorance.
Bit same as ink on aluminium cans, nobody is going to get it back by any method. it is lost and diluted in the oceans for most.

Ever hear of a concepts like buy only necessary and sustainable things? Maybe in frog land you don't. Anyway just in the last few decades we have gone from almost no recycling and people dumping toxic trash in their backyard to business who pride themselves on 100% recycled products. Now imagine a few decades from now you wouldnt see a business that doesn't incorporate lower then 50% of some recycling or sustainable resources management.
Just 20 years ago it was rare to see organic. Now it's in every supermarket
The fact that you think society doesnt self regulate, improve, evolve is imbecile. Consumer wants x the market provides, it takes time however but technology is bridging the gap. Keep peddling doom and gloom and dragging society with your pessimism.
I kinda agree that much progresses have been made, however, when you check the reality of our world's state today, that's a meaningless step towards self sustainable society.
We for instance still dump way more detritus in the nature than we can recycle, it's just a fact.
Nature self regulate, but not us. Just check worldwide population, it is as exponential as the global warming can be right now.
Not to mention 3rd world wountries does'nt care nor have the education to understand all those things.
"Ever hear of a concepts like buy only necessary and sustainable things?"
Lol bro you're american and I've studied social ecology,; not to me bro.
Just so we are clear together bro, decline of economy is unavoidable, and it is not a bad thing. I expect population to reduce to like few billions or even under if we dont find real solutions.
By real solutions, some people already did some calc, like Jean-Marc Jancovici which I invite you to read his work. We would need a recession of 6-7%, pretty much a covid lockdown every year until 2050.
It will less painful if we decide to do so, rather than keeping on our predatory behaviours and undergoing the results of our inaction (chess concept : dont try to prevent something that you cant or it's effects will be greater once landed)
And even if we do all this, that's still doesnt garantee temperatures will keep lower than the +1.5°c by 2050. I'm just talking about global warming but things like loss of arable lands for instance are also a threat.
TTo end this, the decline of energy will be slow so we may get time to adapt.
Apart from that nobody can tell what will be the future, you are on the contrary more than optimistic to imagine we will colonize others planets in time. The awakening will be brutal lol
