You're asking me if I understand many cross because they want jobs? Why ask such an obvious and pleb-normie level question?
I think that by understanding the people crossing that we can make better policy choices in the future.

So what if there's a huge cost? Every country on earth seeks to have operational control of all of its borders.
We're good there. I'm all for the US investing in security. It's good for the economy and it keeps the county safe.

The US Mexico border is the only one held to an entirely different standard.
Well I mean, the US-Canada border is a complete joke to cross by comparison. Then again, we don't have Canadians flooding across the border.

Apparently, it's cruel and unusual to bring order to the area.
I don't agree and by that standard many US policies are "cruel." There has to be rules.

some people want jobs? Whoopdy fucking do. I don't care. My compassion stops where fentanyl overdoses and sex trafficking start.
I'm just simply saying that if we mandated E-Verify, that policy would eliminate much of the illegal crossings all by itself, but the fentanyl is mostly coming from labs illegally making it in China. Obviously the sex trafficking does not.
I also want to point out that the people doing fentanyl are basically insane.
In this video, a guy does fent mixed with benzos and almost dies. I'm personally really confused as to why somebody would actually want to do a drug like that in the first place...
