It depends on the interaction. I have drinks with colleagues all the time, with the people who report to me, and the people whom I report to. It's normal team-building. There's a world of difference between that and manipulating power dynamics to isolate a junior for the sake of a physical relationship.
The piece flopped because it lacks a villain. DeSantis comes across like a 23-year old, still immature, likeable to most, annoying to some, and still very much wrapped up in the school dynamic and culture. This is so mild that if this is the worst the NYT can dredge up, he's a veritable golden boy.
the people raising this faux outrage 1) are neets/unemployed/dregs and or never socialized in their lives (and it was not voluntary) and 2) think slick willie is a model example of workplace behavior after-hours
