It depends on the interaction. I have drinks with colleagues all the time, with the people who report to me, and the people whom I report to. It's normal team-building. There's a world of difference between that and manipulating power dynamics to isolate a junior for the sake of a physical relationship.

The piece flopped because it lacks a villain. DeSantis comes across like a 23-year old, still immature, likeable to most, annoying to some, and still very much wrapped up in the school dynamic and culture. This is so mild that if this is the worst the NYT can dredge up, he's a veritable golden boy.

Seriously this virtue signal like people feel so many feelings for these migrants. Like they came to America well versed in our legal system and filed a lawsuit against a sitting governor. The exploitation is whatever lawyers got them to agree to be represented. The fact is the crowd, “oh, no these are people not pawns” are literally using them as political pawns.

If you want to argue bias with those publications, it's a fine conversation to have, but they're overall in the realm of fair.

Millions of illegal migrants are crossing the border claiming asylum, and are either released directly into the United States, or bused/flown to other, typically Republican, states around the country. Border communities in those red states cannot cope, exacerbated by the fact that the Democratic administration refuses to admit that there's a crisis at all, so additional crisis funding is not incoming. Republican governors are responding to the issue by moving illegal migrants from red states to bluer pastures. They do this knowing that blue states cannot handle the influx any better than they can, and they want to make the issue salient to blue states the same way it is with red.

I did the math when this was going on showing how something like migrants equaling .00000x% of a city’s population constitutes an emergency while nothing is being done about migrants equaling 40% of del rio’s population constitutes investigations into the border patrol officers while locals were coming from miles away to bring food and water to the camps.

They were absolutely flown up north as a political play. The situation is so out of hand it has to be done at some point.
